About

Milk & Honey family

I am a mother of six children (9, 7, 6, 4, 2, and 10 months). My husband is a firefighter and I am a registered nurse. In 2009, I put nursing on hold to be home with our children full-time, which has proven to be the most difficult and rewarding work of all. Since then, our family has grown alongside our home business, for which I design unique sweet essentials for mom and baby.

Early one morning when our second daughter was a baby, I woke to the sound of her muffled cries. As she slept, she had become tangled in her blanket, and it had wrapped (thankfully loosely) around her face. She was okay, but after that incident, we began using sleep sacks in the crib as a safer alternative to traditional baby blankets.

When our next baby was born, he mostly slept in a standard cotton sleep sack, but he often woke up cold. The fleece varieties were warmer, but the synthetic fibers were not breathable, and he often woke up sweaty and uncomfortable. He also outgrew one every few months, and the Velcro® closures did not hold up well through multiple washes.

The rest of the family slept under down blankets, which were perfectly cozy, light and lofty for year-round use. I marveled at the thought of my baby snuggled in a down sleep sack made to stand the test of time.

After several experiments with sketching and producing an original pattern, I successfully created a sleep sack with down fill and adjustable sizing with snaps (patent pending), which was originally known as the “Snuggle Down”. I made several for family and friends, progressively improved the product in aesthetics and function.

At the end of 2010, I began to offer the same design of the Snuggle Down in a variety of unfilled fabrics and weights. The product was renamed the Baby Snap Sack® to encompass both the down-filled version and unfilled versions. I also began working with other local seamstresses to help with parts of the production process.

Our newest product, The Milk & Honey Wrap®, was introduced in the Fall of 2013. When my fifth baby was nursing often, I used her favorite blanket for the car seat and stroller as a convenient cover for privacy in public. As she grew older and more active though, it became a very common occurrence for her to kick or pull the blanket off when I was least expecting it. When I experienced the need first-hand for a simple baby blanket, which could convert to a securable nursing cover, I began the journey to develop a new unique product.

The Milk & Honey Wrap®, (patent pending) is a baby swaddle and travel blanket, that converts to a nursing cover with strategically placed labels and snaps. For breastfeeding, it is discreet like a simple baby blanket, drapes stylishly like a scarf, and is secure like a standard nursing cover. The cowl neck drape provides the ability for the mother to view her nursing baby without a rigid apparatus.

I hope you enjoy our products as much as we do!
