Our outdoor Baby Snap Sack® is ultra light and packs down small for outdoor adventures. The shell is 1.1 ounce ripstop nylon, and the insulation is 800-fill power DownTek™.
*Currently running on a `1 week turnaround, unless otherwise indicated*
Our outdoor sleeping bags are recommended for temps above 40 deg F (5 deg C). For colder temps, the sleeping bag can be combined with a toddler down sweater jacket, like this one from Patagonia. We highly recommend moisture-wicking merino wool pajamas as a base layer.
For child safety, there are no slide drawstrings or cord locks on this baby sleeping bag. The elastic foot of the sleeping bag can be tied by an adult to seal out draft. The sleeping bag can be folded up on itself and elastic tied at the waist, to be worn as a long vest around camp for chilly mornings.
The two-way zipper can be left partially open for easy diaper changing and for warmer temperatures. The zipper can also be separated, so the sack can lay fully open like a traditional blanket or quilt.
The outdoor baby sleeping bag was tested by the family at We Found Adventure on their recent biking, canoeing and backpacking traverse among the boundary waters of Minnesota. Here's what they had to say:
When we first starting camping with Jack when he was a baby, sleeping arrangements were one of the hardest things for us to figure out. We’ve tried a lot of different setups, but on this trip we finally figured out one that works perfect for us. The new outdoor Baby Snap Sack® from The Milk & Honey Co. allowed Rowan to have her own sleep space making it much easier for us to get rest. Our sleep solution for backpacking prior to this, was all four of us under our Enlightened Equipment Accomplice quilt (27oz). While this was warm, it meant I was waking up every hour to check on Rowan to make sure her face wasn’t covered by the quilt. We still share the quilt with Jack, but Rowan is now separate. The other amazing thing about this sleeping bag is it even fits our 3-year-old Jack! He doesn’t sleep in a sack anymore, but it’s great to know that Rowan will be able to continue to use it even as she grows (and man is she growing fast!). This baby and toddler sleeping bag is highly adjustable for warmth which was crucial for us on this trip as it could be in the low-80s when we’d go to sleep and we’d wake up to the high-40s. You can open the bottom of the sack to allow more air ventilation in addition to opening the side zipper from the bottom to let even more air in. The bottom can even be pulled up which allowed Rowan to wear it like a big fluffy vest around camp in the chilly mornings. Adorable!
An earlier prototype was also reviewed by the family behind While Out Riding. They named our baby sleeping bag as #1 on the packing list for camping with a baby or toddler. Be inspired by their incredible adventures and photos here and here and here.
